AGM at Waioneke School Hall 10am 22 July 2023

NEW VENUE: Waioneke School Hall, 10am. AGM followed by speaker and a light lunch. All Welcome.

Speaker: Emma Simpkins is the Senior Regional Advisor Flora at Auckland Council and has worked on threatened plant conservation for a decade. Her role involves managing threatened plants across the region and providing specialist plant advice to a range of projects. Emma and colleagues recently completed the Conservation status of vascular plant species in Tamaki Makaurau which is an important piece of work to help prioritise which threatened plants need our help the most. Emma has also worked in botanic gardens leading ex situ conservation and plant research programmes. Her talk will cover why plants are threatened with several examples from around the region and touch on how they manage threatened plants at a regional level through threat assessments, prioritisation and survey work, where I’ll talk about some of the work we’ve done in the Kaipara and work we have planned.
